Andy Steel:
"When we say the word 'photography,' modern people most often mean fashion shoots for magazines, architectural sketches, or portraits of celebrities, less often - advertising shots.
However, try to answer this question: what photographs bring us the most important information? What pictures make us think about what is happening on the planet and can change our perception of the world?
Mass killings and genocide occur next to us, the environment is polluted, the polar ice caps are melting, rare species of plants and animals are disappearing... but we do not think about these events because they do not affect our daily lives. As sad as it is, most people prefer to take the position of outside observers, and sometimes even express dissatisfaction with being forced to deal with unpleasant information. If we don't like what we see, we prefer not to pay attention to it.
However, there are photojournalists, many of whom are among the best photographers in the world and can really influence our minds and souls. Through the lenses of their cameras, we can see, hear, feel, and sometimes even rethink many events taking place in different countries. In this book, you will find the work of 30 photographers who, in my opinion, are the best on an international scale. In the pages of the book, they talk about their creative path, methods of work, and, most importantly, critically evaluate their most outstanding works. Regardless of the subject - which can be both happy and tragic - the photographs included in the book are true masterpieces. They are like voices sounding from all corners of our amazing world, from different countries, different cultures, capable of stirring the deepest human feelings. These images, like the people who create them, appeal to our feelings, mind, and, above all, conscience. They tell us about what our amazing, constantly changing planet lives on. After all, the world is in our hands."
