Everything is perfect with this camera!
The shutter speeds work well, and everything functions properly in manual mode. The QL17 has shutter priority, and it requires a battery to operate. However, there are some nuances regarding the battery, but they are easily resolved.
Initially, this camera used a mercury battery, either the PX625 or PX13, which had a voltage of 1.35V. Mercury batteries are no longer produced due to their harmful environmental impact, but there are modern alternatives. Here are some modern alternatives:
- Zinc-air batteries: For example, the Wein Cell MRB625, which has the same 1.35V voltage and is a direct replacement for mercury batteries.
- Alkaline batteries: Such as LR44 or PX625A. These batteries have a voltage of 1.5V, which is slightly higher than the original mercury batteries, and this may affect the accuracy of the light meter.
- Silver-oxide batteries: Like the SR44, which have a more stable 1.55V voltage. This might also impact accuracy, but many photographers use them without issues.
- Adapters: Special adapters, like the MR-9, allow you to use modern 1.5V batteries by converting their voltage to 1.35V.
But the galvanometer doesn't work, and the automation isn't working either. Only manual mode is available.
